Year 7 Microbit Launch Day

THE BBC Microbit!

The BBC micro:bit is a pocket-sized, programmable computer which allows children to get creative with technology. The BBC say it is their most ambitious education initiative for 30 years. Up to 1 million devices will be given to every 11 or 12year old child in Year 7 across the UK, for free. The UK currently faces a critical skills shortage in the technology sector, and the BBC and partners aim to help change that. We are giving all of our Year 7 pupils the opportunity to take the Microbit home.

The device is powered by two AAA batteries and connects to your PC via a micro USB cable. To write code for your Micro bit you can either use the block editor (easiest option) or have a look at Python scripting. Links to the code editors are below. Help guides for languages and the block editor can be found on the Micro bit website.

To help with your coding and development over the summer holidays here are a few guides to help and assist you when using the Microbit.
