School Uniform
Uniform Policy
The wearing of full school uniform is expected as an integral part of the school’s ethos which provides an inclusive identity for pupils of all backgrounds and promotes positive behaviour across the school. It also ensures that our pupils are dressed appropriately for learning whilst removing any peer pressure of dressing in particular fashions. It should be worn correctly at all times. We therefore ask for parents/carers support in promoting the importance of uniform and appearance.

Jewellery
Pupils in Pontarddulais Comprehensive are permitted to wear one pair of stud earrings to be worn in ear lobe only. Pupils are permitted to wear a wristwatch. No other form of jewellery is allowed with particular reference to bracelets, chains around the neck and rings on fingers (non-exhaustive list).
No facial piercings (lip, nose, tongue) are permitted and pupils who refuse to remove facial piercings will be sent to the school nurse in the first instance to establish if there are any medical grounds as to why the piercing cannot be removed.
If there are no medical reasons, we will contact parents to assist in the piercing being removed. When pupils are seen to be wearing non-permitted jewellery, they will be given an envelope to place the jewellery in and it will be placed in the school office, to be collected at the end of the day. Staff will then record this on Talaxy.
If a pupil is seen with non-permitted jewellery on a second occasion the jewellery will again be placed in the school office and the pupil will be issued with a lunchtime detention.
If a pupil is seen with non-permitted jewellery for a third time, then the same procedure will be applied but the detention will be an after-school detention and the jewellery will then have to be collected by a parent.
